MSc Climate Change, Development and Policy 

Study Program MSc Climate change, development policy and the curriculum dual challenges including: the transition to a low carbon economy and adaptation to climate change and how these transitions affect global and regional development. This program (for non-climate specialists) examines several and interrelated dimensions of science and technology and the economy and climate change policy. Emphasis is placed on understanding the implications of climate change and climate policies for equality between and within countries. Students will gain expertise on the Earth system and climate impacts, such as water, food and ecosystem services.

After completing thorough training in the basic pillars of study consisting in modules: Climate change and energy policy, innovation and economic development, energy policy and sustainability will this study program will enable you to develop in many ways. For example in acquiring expertise in the field of  process management of energy and energy efficiency, process energy management and deployment of renewable energy sources, environmental management and marketing or climate change management and others.

 In addition, this study program can be combined with others to create their own specialization, for example, in the field of Strategic Management of Innovation or Sustainable Development.  The study is intended for students wishing to undertake research work in the framework of Climate Change.

general definition of climate change is a change in the statistical properties principally its mean and spread of the climate system when considered over long periods of time, regardless of cause. Accordingly,
MSc program is designed for graduates who have already gained bachelor degrees at least.

Entry requirements:  

  • Completion of either Bachelor´s degree from a university or high school studies (+ at least 3-5 years of working experience) or equivalent to the level of an academic bachelor’s degree.
  • In addition to the general entry requirements, you must meet the specific entry requirements as detailed by each programme. For example, many Master’s degree programmes require that your Bachelor’s degree has a particular major, or you may need to have completed certain subject credits within your Bachelor’s degree.

Study process: In each study programme there are 3 core (compulsory) modules. The student chooses 6 mandatory modules, with the option to specialize in his study focus by replacing three of them with 3 mandatory modules from another study programme.

The study is not based on the semester system.

The study ends with working out the final thesis, with a positive rating from the supervisor and the opponent.

The length of the study is 9 – 18 months.
